Mouth ulcers can occur due to many reasons like eating acidic and spicy food, poor dental health, biting of one's cheek, food allergies, mouth injuries due to dental procedures, aggressive teeth cleaning, and even nutritional deficiency of vitamin B12 and iron.




  • Replenish you body's intake of vitamin C in order to cure mouth ulcers. Drink about two to three glasses of orange juice. Alternatively, you can also take vitamin C tablets.
  • Refrain from eating meat and fish till your mouth ulcers are totally healed because meat and fish are acidic in nature.
  • Avoid eating spicy, oil foods and hot beverages. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and raw vegetables as a part of your diet.
  • Include fresh yogurt, buttermilk, cottage cheese and other dairy products.
  • Onion contain sulphur and raw onions contain healing properties. Therefore, eat raw onions.
  • Gargling your mouth alternating with hot and chilled water is another remedy.
Mouth Ulcer Tips
  • Chew on some basil or tulsi leaves, two to three times a day, as they have healing properties.
  • Prepare a paste of a teaspoon of glycerine mixed with a pinch of turmeric. Apply this over the affected area and leave for about 15 to 20 minutes. Turmeric contains potent healing properties.
  • Boil about a teaspoon of coriander seeds in a cup of water. Let it cool and gargle with the solution.
  • Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of water. Apply this mixture over the sores for about 15 minutes.
  • To soothe the burning or painful sensation of the mouth ulcers, eat a banana along with some yogurt.
  • Sip green or herbal tea after you are done with your meals.
  • Eating raw tomatoes is said to be beneficial in treating ulcers. You can also gargle with tomato juice.
  • Refrain from eating candy, chewing gum and drinking aerated drinks, until the mouth ulcers have healed totally.
