White Sore Inflamed Taste Buds on the Tongue

what are the reasons behind swollen taste buds on the tongue? Life-style! The life-style of a person can often provoke the taste buds on the tongue to become inflamed, white (sometimes red in color), and sore, causing a difficulty in eating, and even a loss of appetite - and little to do with telling lies.
What are the taste buds on the tongue responsible for?
Papillae (one of the small protuberances which compose of the senses of smell, touch, and taste), and which distinguish between being bitter or salty, sweet and sour, and umami ([savory, meaty, or brothy] the taste of the food additive MSG [mono-sodium glutamate that is usually found in Chinese foods, snacks, and many seasonings, etc.]).
However, when the taste buds become inflamed, sore, or swollen (for many reasons), not only are they painful as it becomes more difficult to eat, but they also greatly affect the taste of food (food may become diminished in taste).
What are the main causes for the taste buds to become inflamed, white, and sore?
  • Eating overcooked, very hot, very spicy, or acidic (grapefruits, lemons and limes) foods (most common together with cuts on the tongue [also quite common, and usually caused by accidental biting of the tongue]).
  • Smoking (exposure to cigarette smoke [even second-hand smoke]).
  • The ingestion of corrosive chemicals such as: insecticides and certain poisons.
Any of the above may cause the taste buds to become inflamed and sore by them being irritated (the taste buds are actually white [when inflamed they become larger to the human eye only - giving the appearance of large white spots]).
Treatment - If not treated (after prolonged periods) they may cause any of the following: allergies, endocrine disorders (dental problems, diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and hypoadrenalism [Addison's disease]), infections (oral yeast, and thrush), mineral and vitamin deficiencies, mouth and tongue ulcers, and stomach infections. Treatments may include the following:
  • Baking soda placed directly on the taste buds to relieve swelling and pain.
  • Glycerin (glycerine) placed on the tongue to help reduce swelling (when caused by accidental biting).
  • Herbs (garlic, ginger and pepper mixed together and added to foods [soups] to reduce inflammation).
  • Honey (a teaspoon of honey mixed with warm water [taken similar to gargling, but can be swallowed] to facilitate healing).
  • Ice placed on the tongue to relieve pain.
  • Salt water gargling (half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water).
  • Tea tree oil gargling (a natural oil extract from the Melaleuca altermifolia tree [found at most good health stores]).

Best Sexual Tips of All Time

Drink eight glasses of water a day. The more water you drink, the more semen amounts you will have since semen is partially composed of water.

Abstain from masturbation and pace your bouts of sexual activity. The more often you orgasm the less amount of semen you are going to have for each successive orgasm, especially if you orgasm often.

Eat a healthy diet. Diet plays a huge role in the amount of semen a man produces, and a poor diet is sure to produce smaller amounts of semen. So avoid things like processed and refined foods, junk food, and caffeine and you will also have the added benefit of feeling better. Some examples of foods to add to your diet are celery, yams, low fat meats and dairy, nuts, and legumes.

Avoid alcohol, recreational drugs and smoking. All of these adversely affect the amounts of semen a man produces.

Take an herbal supplement specially for increasing semen volume.

Wear loose underwear and pants. When you wear tight underwear or pants this pulls the scrotum up tight to the body and your own body heat can then affect not only the volume of semen, but the quality of your sperm.

4 Tips To How to Grow A Mustache

Do you ever want to look more mature and masculine? If you do, then having a mustache will help you look more manly and more mature!
Currently, many people and celebrities are beginning to have mustaches to make them look more handsome and cool. You can look at some examples such as Brad Pitt  and George Clooney who are the epitome of cool handsome guys who have mustaches. Here are 4 tips to grow a mustache!

1. Eat more protein

Eating more protein will give you a healthy brushy mustache! This is because protein is the basic building block of hair. If you consume more protein, the more facial hair you will get. Therefore, if you eat more protein, you can grow a mustache.
One of the best sources of protein are foods such as beef, pork, fish and chicken. You should eat one portion of these proteins daily to help grow your mustache significantly.

2. Massage your upper lip

To get hair growing on your face such as a mustache, you need to have good blood circulation in your face.
This is because when you have good blood circulation to the face, it brings vital nutrients and protein for your hair to grow. Hair is hard to grow if you don't have good blood circulation.
Hence, a good way to increase facial hair, particularly your mustache is to massage your upper lips.
To massage your upper lip, all you need to do is to apply firm circular pressure starting from the bottom of your nose and then continue this pressure out to the edges of your lip. Do this regularly at least five times a day, and you can achieve your mustache!

3. Drink alcohol

Drinking alcohol will significantly help grow you a good thick mustache! This is because alcohol stimulates the release of testosterone! When you have high levels of testosterone in the body it increases facial and body hair!
Remember, it is always best to drink alcohol in moderation. Drinking too much alcohol can lead to disease of the liver and other major issues.

4. Shave your upper lip regularly

To help increase facial hair, you need to shave your upper lip as often as you can. When you do this, you help stimulate mustache growth. Even if you currently have no mustache, you still need to shave your upper lip every day as this will still help increase the growth of facial hair.
Do this once in the morning and once at night, and the results will be a healthy mustache!

Daily Tips to get No Break Powerful Nails

Nails are a protective horn at the end of our most sensitive extremities: fingers and
toes. They can often become injured from accidents or crushing weight such as
heavy walking or running. They can also become infected from bacterial or fungal
infections as well as separated from the nail bed or chipped from harsh weather.

The nails are often a reflection of our overall health or nutritional deficiencies. Some
ways to listen to what your nails are trying to tell you are:

  1.  Iron/Protein/Calcium Deficiency = brittle, concave, ridged, white half moons
  2.  Too much salt = external fibrous growths
  3.  Nervousness / hyper thyroid = separation of the nail bed
  4.  Respiratory Difficulties = bluish discoloration
  5.  Bronchial Difficulties = yellowish discoloration
  6.  Anemia = pale nail beds
  7.  Vitamin A Deficiency = peeling nails
  8.  Zinc Deficiency = poor nail growth
  9.  Vegetable Quality Oils Deficiency = thin, brittle nails
  10.  Consumption Extremes in Diet (especially meats and refined foods) = washboard
  11. ridges

What we eat actually does affect the appearance of these external parts of our
bodies. Start paying attention to your hands (and feet!) and feeding your body right.
The food we put IN the body affects the health of our nails, but that doesn't mean to
completely ignore the food we put ON the body either. Contrary to many fabulously
smart marketing campaigns you don't need to spend a lot of money on chemically
enhanced products to experience strength and beauty on your outside.
Natural oils are an excellent way to treat the external condition of the finger and
toenails. Different oils affect the body differently. A great way to determine what oil
would suit your body best is to examine your heritage and connect to the
predominant oil in that part of the world.
Once you have determined which is best for your particular body's need use some
time in the evening to take a "nail bath" (remember ... the skin is our most
absorbent organ ...)
1. Allow your nails to soak in a small bowl of oil or gently rub the oil into the nails
2. Cover with cotton gloves, cotton socks
3. Sleep

Top Three Oils to Treat Your Nails Right

1. Coconut Oil: one of the few significant plant sources of lauric acid. This medium
chain fatty acid, which is also found in human milk, enhances brain function and the
immune system.
2. Palm Kernel: when unrefined, this high saturation oil is the one of the most stable
of oils providing strength and ultimate saturation to the skin.
3. Olive Oil: the most stable vegetable oil, high in vitamin E, provides support to the
liver and gallbladder (yes, no matter how you take it into the body).

4 Good Reasons to Get a Breast Reduction

Contrary to popular belief, not every woman wants to increase the size of her chest. Some women would much prefer a breast reduction instead. There are several good reasons for wanting this surgery.

It is common for women to feel some discomfort when they have large breasts. For example, the sheer weight of a larger chest can put a lot of pressure on the straps of any bra. If your straps are always digging into your shoulders, leaving indentations or even rashes that hurt, it is time to consider surgery to reduce the cup size.
Not surprisingly, a large chest can make working out difficult or even uncomfortable. If you want to lose weight or simply stay in shape but find it hard to exercise, it might be worth it to look into breast reduction. You should not let this issue hold you back from getting into shape or even having fun with the sport of your choice, which is why surgery may be a good option in your case.
Discomfort is not the worst thing that you might encounter when you have a large chest. Outright pain is not uncommon. You might have back problems due to the issue, possibly because your bones have become deformed over time as a result of the extra weight. Of course, muscles might be sore as well. This can make it hard for you to even stand comfortably, let alone be active. Some women even have breathing problems too. These medical problems are why insurance often covers the costs involved with breast reduction.
Even if your larger chest is not technically painful, you might simply be tired of the attention you get from it. It's not always good or even desired, especially if you have had it from a young age. Whether you get frequent stares from men or have been bullied for being naturally endowed, you deserve to get rid of the problem through surgery when necessary. Plus, it might simply be hard to find clothes that fit, especially if you are thin everywhere else. You can eliminate this problem and simplify your life a bit with this operation, which is why so many women opt to get it.
Your doctor will let you know if you are a good candidate for breast reduction. If so, your next step is to contact your insurance company to find out if the expense will be paid for. As long as it is clear you are in pain or have developed medical complications as a result of your overly large breasts, you should qualify for coverage of the procedure.

Benefits of Cherries and Red Cherry

Cherries are about the best tasting fruit there is. It is such a shame they have such a short growing period. Just when you get used to that wonderful sweet taste, they disappear off the grocer's shelves. It is so nice to know there are ways they can be eaten year round. They are so versatile they can be frozen, dried, canned, or brandied and still keep that great and unique cherry taste.
What is so good about cherries is the fact they not only taste superb, but they are good for you in so many different ways. Study after study is showing the health benefits of cherries and cherries nutrition. All this new information is placing them a step above many other fruits that have always thought to be healthy.
Cherries have so many healthy attributes that it hard to get to all of them in one article. One nice thing is most of the benefits from cherries nutrition will be realized no matter how you consume them, be it liquid form, dried, baked, or straight off the tree.
One example of cherries nutrition is that they are filled with antioxidants. Antioxidants have been proven to help the body get rid of toxins and have also been proven to help prevent certain types of cancers and other diseases. Many doctors recommend the use of cherries just for their antioxidant qualities.
Another health benefit of cherries is their red pigment filled with anthocyanins. These anthocyanins have been shown to decrease inflammation and pain in people with many different medical issues. People who use cherry therapy for different types of ailments such as gout have reported that cherries or cherry products has worked to ease their pain and inflammation. Many doctors have even started recommending the use of cherries for people who have chronic pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia. Many individuals who started putting cherry products such as cherry concentrate in their diets have reported that the benefits are amazing and they have seen a drastic reduction in pain and inflammation while consuming cherries.
Cherries nutrition has also been shown to help reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. The cause can be from the antioxidant qualities or the red pigmentation of the fruit. Many studies have also been done that show cherries can reduce triglycerides and cholesterol. For the alternate health industry, these finding are causing cherries to be one of the most popular supplements on the market. When they are not in season, dried cherries, cherry juice and cherry concentrate are becoming evermore popular.
The final thing I am going to mention in this article is that cherries are all natural. You don't have to worry about additives or side effects often found in drugs and other related products. However, if you are under the care of a physician for a major illness, continue to follow their instructions. Use cherries nutrition as a secondary cure and defense for future problems. It can do nothing but help, and they taste so good.

Go Green, Go Healthy

You are super busy. You work for maybe fourteen to eighteen hours a day, have back to back meetings, have a hectic social life, parties, get-together, etc. but even with that we are sure you catch up with at least five to six hours of sleep each day. This makes it at least thirty hours in a week. Now have you ever thought about how you spend these sleeping hours? How good or how bad they are? How harmful or harmless they are? If you have not, then think about it. Simply catching up on the number of hours of sleep is not enough. You need to understand your body even when you are sleeping.
Most of the beds that we have in our homes are made of artificial petroleum products that are extremely toxic. They are substances like polyester, polyurethane, fire retardants, anti-microbial chemicals that release toxic fumes that we inhale while we are sleeping unsuspectingly, completely unaware of what we are taking in. All the components used to make bedding is chemically treated for various reasons. There is use of pesticides, fire retardants, stabilizers, bleaches, etc. This is especially harmful in case of children as the body absorbs these toxic fumes because the body is exposed to these for long hours. They develop allergies, respiratory problems, etc. at an early age. By opting for organic bedding we can control some of the hazards threatening our kids.
In order to avoid these potential dangers, it is important that we go 'green' in our practices. By doing so we can ensure good health for ourselves and our families. Mattresses made from organic cotton and natural latex, will not only give us good sleep but ensure that we sleep healthily. Our bodies are safe with organic bedding. They prevent allergies and breathing disorders. Cotton sheets made from organic cotton are also a part of organic bedding. We often opt for wrinkle free and stain free fabrics, but what we fail to see is that these are exposed to harmful chemicals for them to be wrinkle and stain free.
The effect of toxic chemicals absorbed by our body is cumulative and can be felt only after several years. There is no immediate fallout of artificial bedding and most of the effects are unpredictable. You never know, what will affect you and why. Hence most people fail to realize the hazards of such bedding. Organic bedding will free you from every worry. Organic mattresses regulate body temperature as organic cotton and wool absorb sweat. This will give you a comfortable sleep. Such mattresses are also resistant to molds, bacteria and dust mites.
Though we are talking of organic bedding, we should in fact opt for organic fabric wherever possible. You should use organic towels, clothes, curtains, etc. By incorporating 'green' practices in your lifestyle you will keep your house free from pollutants and will promote good and healthy living for you and your family. You can start by replacing your existing liner with organic ones in a phased manner because organic fabric is much costlier than other fabrics and changing everything all at once, may burn holes in your pocket!

1.  Antioxidants. Like the anti-ust paint that keeps your outdoor furniture from rusting, tea's antioxidants protect your body from the ravages of aging and the effects of pollution.

If drinking coffee gives you the jitters, causes indigestion or headaches or interferes with your sleep then you should switch to tea. attack and stroke. Flu Fighting Foods

Do you read the ingredient list on all of your food and beverage labels before your buy them?  If a 2nd grader can't pronounce the entire list of ingredients on the food label, you are probably consuming too many processed foods and chemicals.  The goal is to get back to eating REAL food and making WATER your primary choice of a beverage.

1)  Eat a vegetable-based diet to create an alkaline environment in your body.

Vegetables help create an alkaline environment in your body.  Viruses cannot live in this environment.  Kids need at least 2-3 (1/2 cup each) servings of vegetables daily.

Have cut up vegetables sitting out for kids to snack on before dinner.  Include a salad with every dinner meal.  Throw some shredded carrots into the muffins.  Add some pumpkin to your pancakes.  Throw a handful of fresh spinach into the smoothie.  Don't assume your kids won't eat their vegetables.  My kids now ask for salads and carrots.  Be a good role model, as adults should be eating 4-5 servings daily.

Go organic if it is on the "dirty dozen" list.

The "dirty dozen" list contains the twelve fruits & vegetables most heavily sprayed with pesticides.  This list was compiled by the Environmental Working Group from approximately 87,000 studies by the USDA and FDA of 47 fruits and vegetables between 2000 and 2007. It is estimated that if you avoid eating the non-organically grown produce on this list, your pesticide exposure can be reduced by up to 80%.

Here are the "dirty dozen" listed in decreasing order of pesticide content:  Peaches (worst), apples, sweet bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, kale, lettuce, grapes, carrots and pears.

Buying organic produce is a little more expensive initially, but preventing pesticides, which tax your immune and lymphatic systems, from entering your body is worth it.  You will also begin to notice that when you are fueling your body with REAL food that contains live enzymes, phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals, your appetite decreases.  This is because you are now nourishing your body's cells and no longer just feeding your mouth with empty calories.

2)  Satisfy your sweet-tooth without sugar.

Sugar creates an acidic environment in your body and lowers your immune system.  This includes the corn syrup that is found on your ingredient list.  Great substitutes for sugar or fake pancake syrup are raw honey, 100% pure maple syrup or agave nectar.  We use raw honey to replace the sugar in muffin recipes and real maple syrup to sweeten our oatmeal.

Honey is also a great cough suppressant.  You can give your child a teaspoon of honey to calm his or her cough or stir it into a cup of warm water or herbal tea.  Please note the children under the age of 12 months should not consume any honey (even in baked goods), as their intestinal tract is not developed enough to handle the botulism spores.  Corn syrup and molasses also contain botulism spores and should be avoided in infants under 12 months of age.

Use fruit to satisfy your family's sweet tooth.  Fruit, like vegetables, produce an alkaline reaction in your body and therefore decrease your risk of getting a cold or the flu. Kids should consume 2-3 (1/2 cup) servings of fruit per day and adults should aim for 3-4 servings daily.

Try frozen berries topped with organic yogurt and a little honey or agave nectar for a real treat.  Apples with a little peanut butter are a great after-school snack.  You will be amazed to notice that when you increase your fruit intake, your intense sugar cravings will go away.

3)  Get outside and move your body daily.

Be sure to get outside for at least 15 minutes daily to get fresh air and sunshine.  You get vitamin D from the sun shining on your skin.  Vitamin D helps turn on the body's immune response.  This could be as simple as walking your child to school or taking a 15-minute family-walk after school.

Ideally, you will move your body for a total of 30 minutes daily.  One of the most important reason to get your body moving is for the stress-reduction benefits.  Excess stress increases your body's acidity and will cause you to be more susceptible to the invasion of viruses.  Exercise also helps increase your intake of oxygen and viruses do not like an oxygenated environment.

4)  Get plenty of sleep.

Lack of sleep will increase your level of cortisol, which is a stress hormone.  Cortisol increases the acidity of your body, which then increases your susceptibility to cold and flu viruses. Recent research validates the need for adults to get between 7-8 hours of quality sleep per night.

Kids ages 5-12 need 10-11 hours of sleep per night.  For the best sleep, they should not have a TV in their bedroom or it should be unplugged.  Younger kids need up to 12 hours per night and most adults will need 7-8 hours of restful sleep per night.

5)  Keep Your Nose Clean.

To prevent viruses from entering your body, you need to keep your nose clean.  The Neti pot (Food Co-op) is a small ceramic pot designed specifically to flush out your nose.  Just add warm salt water to the pot, tilt your head, pour the water into one nostril and watch it come out the other nostril.  You can also swab the inside of your nose with warm salt water.

Top 10 Health Tips

Here are top ten tips to nourish your body and keep it functioning at optimum levels.
1) Focus on improving your eating habits rather than participating in restrictive diets. Always keep in mind that what you eat and drink has a direct impact on how you look, feel and perform.
2) Go to the grocery store at least once a week to buy some fruits, vegetables and nourishing food. Leave the junk food on the shelves, because what you buy, you will eat. Also, don't buy the junk food for your kids, spouse or relatives. They don't need it either.
3) Try to focus on fueling your body with nourishing food rather than filling your belly with empty, sugar-loaded calories. Your body is a wonderful machine that needs nourishing food to function at optimal levels.
4) Try to eliminate casual calories that often contain no nutritional value. They include: soda, juices, candy, energy drinks and triple mocha caramel double fudge latte coffees. Remember, consuming too many calories will cause you to gain weight. It doesn't matter if these calories come from foods or drinks.
5) Don't fall victim to diet and weight-loss marketing professionals. Carbohydrates do not make you fat. Protein does not make you fat. Fat does not make you fat. Consuming more calories than your body burns will cause you to gain weight. It's that simple. Bottom line: Don't eliminate or dramatically restrict your intake of carbohydrates, protein or fat.
6) Eat smaller portions more frequently throughout the day to help keep your blood sugar levels stable. Stabilized blood sugar levels not only help increase energy, they also will help you burn unnecessary body fat. Try to include some carbohydrates, protein and fat in each meal.
7) When eating fast food or dining out, order the meal as "cleanly" as possible. That means asking for sauces, dips and dressings on the side. Try to order a meal that contains some carbohydrates, protein and fat. Always keep in mind that the chef does not care if you are overweight or unhealthy. Order food with your health and fitness in mind.
8) Try to eliminate all deep-fried foods. They are loaded with trans-fatty acids. And yes, this includes french fries. I know they taste good, but they have a negative impact on how you look and feel.
9) Try to limit your intake of breads, bagels, potatoes and pastas (these are not the best source of carbohydrates) and replace with fruits and vegetables that will nourish your body with valuable nutrients. Fruits and vegetables also help to slow the aging process and boost your body's immune system.
10) Read food labels. Not all brands are equal and the manufacturers do not care if you are overweight or unhealthy. For example, some items are labeled "fat free," yet if you read the food label you will see that the product contains "mono and diglycerides". This is fat! Also, try to limit foods that contain "hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils" as these oils can contribute to heart disease.

Health Benefits of Walking

One of the quickest, easiest fastest, and cheapest coping skills you can use to fight your depression is walking. All you need is a decent pair of walking shoes and you're good to go. To start, a 10 minute brisk walk is all you need. Ideally, you should work your way up to 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week. There are numerous physical benefits to a good brisk walk such as weight loss, lower blood pressure levels, improved muscle mass and tone, etc. But as someone who has depression, you should also be familiar with the following 7 psychological benefits of walking:

1. Increases serotonin levels - People with clinical depression have lower levels of serotonin ( a neurotransmitter responsible for feelings of well being ) in their brain. Brisk walking will naturally cause those serotonin levels to rise and you'll begin to feel better within a short period of time.

2. Improves self confidence and self esteem - Set some goals for walking. They should be small attainable goals at first. Then increase your distance over time. Start a walking journal and record the results. You can always change your goals if necessary You will be surprised at how much your self confidence and esteem will improve by being proactive and attaining your goals. I know I was.

3. Positive coping skill - Unfortunately some people will resort to negative behaviors such as, drinking, drugs, or cutting, when they are depressed. Even ignoring your depressive episode by doing nothing is not a good idea. Walking is an excellent example of a positive coping skill that you'll need to empower yourself to work through future depressive episodes.

4. Walking feels good - Walking simply feels good, unlike other strenuous activity that usually only feels good once you stop. The body and mind have a very powerful connection. When your body feels good, so does your mind.

5. Promotes positive cognition - As you walk and you are in the moment, it will be easier for you to take your mind off depressive thoughts and focus on your walking and interactions with the environment.

6. Provides a social support system - Initially, you might not be ready to walk with anyone else. But over the long run a walking buddy can provide the social support you need to help you with your depression,. especially on those days when your down and feel like doing absolutely nothing.

7. Effectiveness is backed by positive scientific evidence - Scientific research has proven that walking improves an individual's mood and self worth and reduces the symptoms of depression.

Make sure you talk with your family doctor before you start any walking program. If you've been on medication or have been going through psychotherapy, don't stop. Walking is an outstanding compliment, not substitute for standard treatment. Finally, you might want to make a copy of this article and reread it as an incentive any time you feel so down that you don't want to walk. It might be hard at first, but I know you can do it. Now get out there and start feeling better.
