Natural Ways To Cure Insomnia

Sleeplessness or better known as Insomnia is a state where you are not able to sleep properly for the required amount of time. On an average the body needs 6 to 8 hours of good sleep and if you are not able to provide that much rest to your body than you might experience further problems like: day time fatigue, sleep walking, and headache. So, whenever you feel like you are facing this sleeping disorder than you should give proper attention to your body. Here is a list of home remedies that will help you get rid of Insomnia and related problems.

Best Remedy

  • Using a kitchen scale, weigh out the dried herbs. Note: I use the Soehnle 67080 Page Profi Kitchen Scale for all of my kitchen scale needs and LOVE it!
  • Put herbs into a quart-sized glass Mason jar.
  • Bring 3/4 cup of water just to a boil and pour over herbs just to moisten.
  • Measure out the vegetable glycerin and pour it over herbs to cover, filling the jar.
  • Seal the jar and shake until mixture is well combined.
  • Set the jar in a warm place and shake once or twice daily.
  • After 2-4 weeks, strain liquid through a cheesecloth. Squeeze as much of the menstruum as possible out of the plant material. Note: If so desired, repeat steps 1-7 using the liquid extract that is strained in place of the water and vegetable glycerin. This is referred to as a double infusion, and produces a much stronger, more effective medicine.
  • Add lavender extract and vanilla pure flavor extract if using. Note: Click this link to see the recipe for lavender extract or click here to purchase a high-quality,  handcrafted lavender extract (lovingly made by me with homegrown lavender flowers).
  • Pour the extract into dark amber glass bottles with mister pumps. Label the bottles with the name, herbs, date made, and menstruum used. Will keep for approximately 2-3 years.        via: http://frugallysustainable.com/2013/08/natural-insomnia-remedy-make-your-own-herbal-sublingual-sleep-aid-spray/
1. You need a comfortable sleeping atmosphere. Your bedroom should have a comfortable bed and pillow, the lighting of the room should be proper and more importantly you need to remember that bedrooms are meant for sleeping and not to watch television. Do not eat the snacks sitting on your bed! Well, there is a good psychological reason behind this theory. Since our childhood, most of us follow some bed time routines like taking a shower or reading some books. So, if you make a simple habit of only sleeping on your bed than your body as well as your mind will prepare for sleep when you hit your bed!

2. Drink a glass of warm water by mixing honey into that before you go to sleep. You can also add a spoon of honey to a glass of warm milk and drink that at night.

3. Stress is another reason for your sleeping disorder. You need to refresh yourself by unburdening all the stress related thoughts from your mind. I know, it is easier said than done; so what I can suggest is try to unburden these disturbing thoughts one by one from the evening itself, so by the time you get into the bedroom, your mind is quite free of any stress. It will help, a great amount, to get a good night sleep.

4. Eat your dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. However, it is advisable to have some sweet snacks like milk and cookies, just before you retire to bed. The sugar on your dessert will act as a sedative and will help you in getting proper sleep. You can also have some high carbohydrate snacks at bed time and enjoy a thorough sleep.

5. Meditation will also help you getting a good sleep. It will help you by getting rid of all your disturbing thoughts that control your mind.
