Health Benefits of Juicing

There are many benefits to be obtained from juicing. As you may already know raw fruits and vegetable contain many important vitamins, mineral, enzymes and amino acids which are vital to maintaining your health. For example did you know that one cup of carrot juice contains the same amount of nutrients as 4 cups of chopped up raw carrots.
Another often over looked benefit of juicing is the fact that fresh fruit and vegetable juices are absorbed much faster into your bloodstream due to the reduced digestion time when compared to eating solid food. This is because the juicing process has removed the fiber of the fruit and vegetables leaving only the nutrient rich juice that is easily digested by the body. In the juice form, the vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids and antioxidants obtained from the fresh fruit and vegetables are quickly and easily transported through the walls of the intestine and into the bloodstream for distribution to the body cells.
You may be wondering about importance of some of the above mentioned components obtained through juicing process such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids and antioxidants with respect to overall good health.
Vitamins:
  • Are directly related to body growth, metabolism and development.
  • Help regulate metabolism and help with the release of energy from food.
  • Found in two forms, water-soluble and oil-soluble.
  • Water-soluble vitamins including Vitamin C and the B-complex vitamins are not able to be stored by your body and need daily replenishing.
  • Oil-Soluble vitamins including vitamin A, D, E and K are able to be stored in the tissue fat and within your liver.
Drinking the juice of fresh fruits and vegetable is an excellent method of maintaining your daily vitamin requirements since this juice contains an abundant supply of both the water-soluble and oil-soluble vitamins needed by your body in a form that is very easily absorbed by the blood stream.
Minerals:
  • Required by all body cells.
  • Used for the creation of healthy bones and blood cells.
  • Vital to the workings of the nervous system.
  • Body requires no less than 22 minerals in sufficient amounts to be healthy including iron, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.
  • Best natural source of minerals is from green leafy vegetables.
Juicing can be an excellent method of introducing the benefits of eating green leafy vegetables to your diet without straining the digestive system as the leafy fiber is already processed in the juice.
Enzymes:
  • Vital to the body to maintain the correct functioning of necessary body functions and process.
  • Are able to change the chemical makeup of other substances.
  • Are often destroyed by cooking food which robs the body of these essential living organisms.
Drinking the juice from fresh vegetables and fruit is an excellent way to replenish the body with these important "living" enzymes.
Antioxidants:
  • Certain vitamins (Vit. A,C, E), minerals (Selenium) and enzymes have the ability to neutralize the harmful effects of toxic substances (free radicals) created due to exposure to air pollution, pesticides, cigarette smoke, toxic chemicals and certain body processes.
The juice from fresh vegetables and fruit contain high levels of antioxidants that help protect the body from free radicals.
Amino acids:
  • Are an important ingredient in creating proteins which help repair damage to cells and organs of the body?
All kinds of juice from vegetables and fruits contain amino acids that can be easily digested and absorbed by the body.
Hopefully the above information has provided some of the many benefits of juicing. So all that is left for you to do is buy a good juicing machine (which I will be discussing in a future article) and take action.
