Ginger, when ingested provides a lot of medicinal benefits to the body. One of this is the relief it provides to people suffering from sinus infections.

Sinus infections take place when there is an inflammation of the sinus cavities that are present in the face of a person. This inflammation leads to nasal blockage, which can cause a host of problems to humans. These problems can include headaches, watery eyes, toothache, a constant throbbing pain in the front of the face and fungal and bacterial infections. 

The infections can even spread to the eyes or the brain which can lead to severe complications. Ginger is very helpful in treating sinuses, as it has components that help in the thinning of mucus. This helps in releasing the blockage caused by mucus in the nasal passage.

The first way for consuming ginger is by eating a solid piece of ginger every day. This is beneficial, as it helps in the prevention of cold and other throat infections. Raw ginger can be cut in small pieces and placed inside the mouth. On chewing the piece of ginger, the juice produced helps in soothing throat.


Ginger tea

Ginger tea is also another way of providing relief to sinus infections. Ginger tea is prepared by taking small pieces of ginger and boiling them in water for around ten to fifteen minutes. After the water has been boiled, pour the water through a filter paper to keep out the ginger pieces. Add honey to the tea and drink it. This will provide relief to sinus headaches and soothe the throat also.


Ginger Fumes Method

Ginger fumes can also be inhaled which will cause the mucus particles to thin and flow more easily. The tea fumes can be directly inhaled or a piece of cloth can be dipped in the water and applied to the face to inhale the fumes. This is a good way to cure infections also, as ginger has anti-bacterial components.
